Beaches : The beaches of the Bay of Arcachon

There are many beaches in the Bassin d'Arcachon! Its coast is home to heavenly beaches where it is good to swim, sunbathe and rest.

To begin with, you find the immense ocean beaches where the waves offer their surf spots over 25km, from Lège to the tip of Cap Ferret.
Then there are the serene beaches of the bassin, ideal for the pleasures of idleness and calmer swimming.

The beaches on the Atlantic Ocean side

If you like the waves of the South-West and the large fine sandy beaches, choose the ocean beaches of the Bassin d'Arcachon.

From the campsite, you discover, all along the peninsula, 25 km of ocean beaches. Fine sand, dunes, space, nature in its purest form… Whether you are a surfer or not, there is no doubt that you will be charmed by so much beauty and calm.

3 beaches on the peninsula are supervised from June to September: Grand-Crohot beach, Truc Vert beach and Horizon beach.

The first to open its arms to you is Grand Crohot Beach. It is only 7 km from the campsite (10 minutes by car).
The cycle path starting from our campsite will take you through a peaceful pine forest, far from traffic.

The beaches on the Bassin d'Arcachon side

Still from the campsite but now on the Bassin d'Arcachon side, you will discover many little corners of paradise.

Here, the beaches are calmer and you swim at high tide for the most part! From Arcachon to Lège-Cap Ferret, you can choose between large sandy beaches and small discreet beaches.

On the Lège-Cap Ferret side, many of them, such as the beaches of l'Herbe, Canon and Piraillan, are located near the oyster-farming villages. The opportunity for you to alternate between swimming, tasting oysters with your feet in the water and strolling through the villages!

If vigilance is required on the ocean beaches, you can enjoy those of the Bassin in complete serenity, where the stretches of fine sand slope gently towards the shore.

It should not be forgotten that the waters are of high quality because they are filtered daily by the play of the tides.

Thus, all the conditions are met to enjoy the pleasures of holidays by the sea.

Discover these beaches:

the Sailors' Cross in Claouey. On this beach, you can enjoy the calm waters, suitable for swimming and practicing water sports. You can also admire the panoramic view of the Arcachon basin, as well as the mainland and the pine forests that surround it.
Pointe au Chevaux in Piquey, you can enjoy the sea breeze and the calm of the surroundings.
Les Hirondelles. This beach is located in the village of Piquey, it is a magnificent beach which extends over a length of more than 400 meters.
L'Herbe at Lège-Cap Ferret is a fine sandy beach lapped by the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, making it an ideal place to relax and rejuvenate. The beach is long and wide and very well maintained. It is very popular with nature lovers, families and vacationers. The beach is bordered by a wide promenade, ideal for family outings.
The Americans. This 1 km long beach is very popular with locals and tourists for its calm waters and spectacular scenery. So if you want to enjoy a relaxing stay and the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean, the American Beach in Lège Cap Ferret is made for you.
Le Mimbeau is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Bassin d'Arcachon, with its wide expanse of fine sand. It is well equipped for holidaymakers, with safe bathing areas, showers and toilets. In addition, water activities are very popular here: you can go windsurfing, kitesurfing and kayaking.
